On the test the answer is 'none of the other answers are correct' - but how would you find the largest root? 

I thought it was just the largest degree that could be shown. I've attached a visual help explain where my mind was going with this.  

Can someone help me understand how to arrive at the answer for this?

If you insert from smallest to largest, the smallest values will be in the largest trees. Then whatever your smallest tree is (say 4 values - degree 2), then the root of that would be the largest possible root value (say the 4th largest).
